Trouble Logging In To Control Panel

There are a couple of reasons why you may experience trouble logging into your control panel, but only select users will ever have trouble.

The first issue applies if you are trying to login from any of the Anywherehost web pages. This requires that your domain name DNS has already propagated.

Enter your username, website name without http:// or www, and your password.

WHAT IS DNS?

The internet is comprised of billions of addresses that are sorted by a number called an IP. This number is like a telephone number and it points to your server or to your individual site. Before visitors can locate your site they first ask their internet provider (ISP) where you are located. Their ISP checks its phone book (the domain name registrar) and is referred to us. We then look in our phone book and tell your ISP which of our servers you are on. This all happens in the blink of an eye, but it does require that your ISP first know about us. This begins when we register a domain name for you, or once you have told your registrar our address. Your ISP will later ask the registrar where to find you. PROPAGATION TAKES 12-72 HOURS. WE DO NOT CONTROL PROPAGATION. Please be patient while the process of telling the world of your address takes place.

If your site is new you will need to use the login link contained in your Welcome Message.

FIREWALL SOFTWARE

A second cause of login trouble occurs when the user is using firewall software, such as ZoneAlarm, Norton Internet Security, Norton Personal Firewall, or the Windows XP SP2 upgrade.

The specific problem occurs when using our easy login screen or when using the the link provided in the Welcome Message. The system is either a failed login, or, an incomplete page is shown. The problem is that your forewall software is blocking access to a page that you have not told it that it may access.

The solution is to refer to your firewall software instructions and add the address.
